We are seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a dedicated team in a specialist SEN school located in Horsham, West Sussex.

The location is ideal for candidates residing in nearby towns and villages such as Southwater, Pulborough, Cowfold, Henfield, and Rudgwick—all within a 20-minute commute.

Duties As an HLTA, you will be based in a specialist SEN school catering to both primary and secondary-age children. The school is led by a fantastic Principal and a highly skilled multidisciplinary team. You will work with children who have a range of disabilities, including physical, neurological, or sensory impairments, providing valuable support in the classroom and ensuring they receive the highest quality education.
  • Support class teachers to enhance student learning and attainment.
  • Encourage student independence, self-esteem, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Assist in planning and delivering engaging learning activities.
  • Working with individual students, groups, or whole classes under the teacher’s guidance.
  • Follow the school's marking and assessment policy to track and report on student progress.
  • Provide exciting learning experiences that help students reach their potential.
  • Be a role model and manage support team members in the classroom.

Criteria
  • A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification or higher.
  • Experience working with children with Specialist Educational Needs.
