About the Role:
We have a fantastic opportunity within a Residential School that caters to children and young adults with Autism, social, emotional, and mental health needs. This position offers the chance to make a real difference in the lives of young people while working within a supportive and specialist educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safeguarding: Ensure the welfare and safety of pupils according to school policies, including safeguarding and PREVENT guidelines.
- Support Learning: Assist in delivering a broad and balanced curriculum under the guidance of a teacher, helping pupils achieve their full potential.
- Positive Relationships: Establish and maintain positive relationships with pupils to support their safety and enjoyment in learning.
- Tailored Support: Provide additional explanation and support to children where needed, fostering an inclusive learning environment.
- Assessment Support: Assist teachers in gathering and recording evidence of pupils’ attainment and progress.
- Feedback and Monitoring: Participate in evaluating learning activities and provide meaningful feedback on pupil progress.
- Behaviour Management: Implement positive behaviour management strategies tailored to individual needs.
- Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or higher
- GCSEs at grade C (or 4 in the new GCSE system) or above in English and Maths
- Knowledge and experience working with SEN, SLD/PMLD, ADHD, and ASD pupils
- Understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures
- Experience managing a range of behaviours, including those that challenge
- Experience within an educational setting is advantageous
- Experience working in a multicultural, inclusive environment.
