Your Role
As a Vocational Skills Coach within an SEN School, you will support young learners, often with diverse needs such as Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges or Autism. You will create an inclusive, adaptable learning environment that fosters individual growth, skill-building, and confidence in a vocational setting. Key responsibilities include:
  • Planning and delivering engaging vocational education sessions tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Supporting students in developing practical skills applicable to real-world careers and independent living.
  • Collaborating with support staff to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans.
  • Adapting curriculum content to promote positive learning experiences.
  • Monitoring and recording progress, communicating effectively with parents/carers, and preparing progress reports.

Criteria
  • Qualifications: PGCE, Qualified Teacher Status, or equivalent.
  • Experience: Prior experience in a Specialist Education School environment, or in working with pupils with SEMH or Autism.
  • Skills: Ability to deliver curriculum content creatively to meet the needs of students with varied requirements.
