About the Role:
We are seeking a passionate Speech and Language Therapist to join an outstanding Specialist Residential College in Ferndown, Dorset. This unique opportunity allows you to make a real difference in the lives of young people with Autism and other disabilities. You will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team, providing tailored support that empowers students to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a varied caseload focusing on communication and dysphagia needs.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments for communication, swallowing, eating, and drinking.
- Offer expert advice on therapy suitability for prospective students.
- Develop individualized communication and eating/drinking goals as part of IEPs.
- Create and implement therapy programs focusing on communication, assistive technology, and feeding.
- Deliver targeted interventions in individual, group, or classroom settings.
- Maintain accurate clinical records in line with professional standards.
- Train and supervise Speech and Language Therapy Assistants.
Essential Criteria:
- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
- HCPC and RCSLT registration.
- Post-graduate training in dysphagia and competence in Level C of the EDSCF.
- Proactive in continuous professional development and clinical supervision.
- Experience with AAC systems, IDDSI guidelines, and managing complex caseloads.
- Expertise in person-centered approaches.
- Understanding of Mental Capacity Act and restrictive practices.
- Experience in Positive Behaviour Support, EHCP processes, and working in multi-disciplinary teams.
