Role Overview:
As an SEN Teacher, you will be working with children aged 11-19 who have learning disabilities typically linked to Autism (ASD). You will lead small class sizes, supported by a dedicated team of Teaching Assistants and an excellent Therapy Team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized learning plans.
- Adapt the curriculum to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Foster a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
- Utilize strategies and visual teaching methods to engage reluctant learners.
- Manage a range of approaches to learning, including support for students with anxiety.
- Collaborate with the Therapy Team to support student development.
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding and child protection.
Candidate Criteria:
Successful candidates are likely to demonstrate:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Proven track record of achieving outstanding outcomes
- Thorough knowledge of the curriculum and adaptation for SEN pupils
- Experience working with young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Strong understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures
- Ability to establish and maintain nurturing relationships with young people
- Experience managing a range of learning approaches, including support for students with anxiety
- Knowledge of strategies and visual teaching methods to engage reluctant learners
- Flexibility, creativity, and adaptability in teaching to meet individual needs
Additional Information:
Successful applicants will be subject to pre-employment safeguarding checks, including an enhanced disclosure and barring service (DBS) check.
